      Maltego

      Summary
Maltego is an open-source intelligence (OSINT) and link-analysis platform developed by Maltego Technologies. It allows analysts to ingest, enrich, and visualise data from dozens of public and commercial sources, mapping relationships between people, infrastructure, domains, social profiles, and organisations. Its strength lies in rapidly turning fragmented data into a coherent graph that highlights hidden links, patterns, and attack surfaces.

I use Maltego primarily during recon and pre-engagement phases. Usually I start by pivoting from a target domain or organisation to identify related infrastructure, exposed services, cloud assets, third-party dependencies, and historical artefacts that may indicate legacy risk. I find the visual graph helps me quickly (and easily) spot trust relationships and choke points that would be easy to miss with more linear tooling.

I also tend to rely on Maltego during investigations and red-team ops to enrich indicators and validate my thinking. Whether I'm correlating phishing infra, tracking reused attacker assets, or demonstrating risk to stakeholders, I find Maltego helps me move fast, document my reasoning, and present complex technical relationships in a way that's clear, defensible, and actionable.
